Jeff Davis is an artist, Strategic Advisor at Art Blocks, and co-founder of the Generative Art Foundation. He began his artistic journey in college, focusing on painting and printmaking during his graduate studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1999, Jeff turned to design software to explore structure and color with greater precision, marking the beginning of his digital art practice. Since then, he has adopted creative coding as a tool for expression, developing generative systems that investigate form and color within specified parameters.
His recent retrospective Color: 1995–2025 at Artverse Gallery in Paris traced thirty years of work, from traditional printmaking to generative art. This year he presented Mechanical Drawings, a solo exhibition at Office Impart in Berlin of large-format generative drawings in colored pencil, made in collaboration with Uncorporated Studio. He has exhibited internationally with Bright Moments in Paris, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Mexico City, London, Berlin, New York, and Los Angeles, and his work has been presented at Sotheby's in New York, Phillips in London, the European Cultural Center in Venice, and Art Dubai. His work is held in the public collections of ZKM Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany, and the Francisco Carolinum in Linz, Austria. Jeff is the author of two textbooks, Foundations of Design and Foundations of Color.
