ABOUT

As an artist, I utilize Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to produce digital c-prints. The concepts behind my artwork stem from my background in mathematics. My work is about simplification, logic, and order.

I began my career in higher education as a full-time instructor for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division, teaching Fundamentals of Design and Color Theory. I now serve as the Program Director for Art Foundations where I lead faculty and curriculum development.

I recently completed work on a textbook for Wadsworth/Cengage Learning titled Foundations of Design. It introduces the basic elements of design and presents a framework for understanding the construction of a two-dimensional composition. It is geared toward introductory art and design students and officially went on sale January 1, 2012.

I received my B.A. degree in Mathematics and Studio Art from Lawrence University, and my M.F.A. degree in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I currently live in Tempe, Arizona with my wife and two children.
